RULES (Quy tắc)

In affirmative sentences, we use was or were.

(Trong câu khẳng định, chúng ta sử dụng was hoặc were.)

In negative sentences, we use wasn’t or weren’t.

(Trong câu phủ định, chúng ta sử dụng wasn’t hoặc weren’t.)

In yes / no questions, we use was / were + subject + phrase.

(Trong câu hỏi yes / no, chúng ta sử dụng was / were + chủ từ + cụm từ.)

In short answers, we use yes / no + pronoun + was / wasn’t or were / weren’t.

(Trong câu trả lời ngắn gọn, chúng ta sử dụng yes / no + đại từ + was / wasn’t hoặc were / weren’t.)

2 We form the past continuous with was (were) and the -ing form of a verb.
