My friend told me to take my camera because you can sometimes see dolphins. I will also take my seater as it sometimes gets cold at night.

B.  Peter

My teacher asked me about my holiday. I’m going to a house in the mountains with my uncle and aunt. It will be very cold all the time, so I will take my favourite blue scarf and gloves. My aunt said there will be a lot of snow. We are going there because my uncle likes snowboarding. I am excited because I will go on a helicopter again. We are going to the top of the mountain. I must take my trainers and a good hat!

C.  Ben

I told our teacher that I’m going on holiday to the forests in Germany with my father and my brother. This will be the first time I go on an airplane. We will go to the airport two hours before the flight. My mum says it rains a lot in the area we are going to. So, I’ll take my blue raincoat which has a picture of a dolphin on it and possibly an umbrella. I will also take my yellow boots and, of course, my passport.

Alice’s husband, Jack, is an electrician. They met while he was working at a theatre where she was dancing and got married soon after. “When Demi started dancing, the house was too small for her and Alice to practise in so I made the garage into a dance studio. Last month, Demi was invited to dance in the ballet Swan Lake. Of course, Alice and Hannah were in the audience and even Jack was there, which made it very special for Demi. Over the past 600 years, English has grown from a language of few speakers to become the dominant language of international communication. English as we know it today emerged around 1350, after having incorporated many elements of French that were introduced following the Norman invasion of 1030. Until the 1600s, English was, for the most part, spoken only in England and had not attended even as far as Wales, Scotland, or Ireland. However, during the course of the next two centuries, English began to spread around the globe as a result of exploration, trade (including slave trade), colonization, and missionary work. Thus, small enclaves of English speakers became established and grew in various parts of the world. As these communities proliferated, English gradually became the primary language of international business, banking, and diplomacy.
