1) A total of about 20 000 deaths caused by lung cancer is closely related to smoking in countries like the United States. Therefore, smoking prohibition is one of the best solutions for fewer deaths due to lung cancer in those countries.
A. There are 20 000 deaths caused by cigarettes in the USA.
B. 20 000 deaths caused by cancer are people who live in America.
C. Several countries need to ban smoking completely, like the United States.
D. Such governments as the USA's will have fewer deaths caused by smoking, should they establish smoking prohibition.
E. The USA hasn't had any deaths relating to cigarettes.

2) It is proved that people living with smokers will be more likely to suffer from lung diseases than smokers. For instance, in a family where the husband is a smoker, his wife and children will have a more 25% chance to suffer from diseases like pneumonia. People who exposed to constant smoking during childhood and/or adolescence will also have more chances to have respiratory diseases.
A. If you live with somebody who smokes, you will also take up smoking.
B. If you live with somebody who smokes, you won't have pneumonia.
C. If your parents smoked constantly during your childhood, you will be likely to suffer from respiratory diseases.
D. High level of exposure to smoking can make you more likely to have lung diseases.

3) Deaths caused by respiratory diseases are no longer unrelated to smoking. Patients who suffer from diseases like pneumonia or COPD won't stand a chance of survival if they are heavy smokers. Moreover, Emphysema or other diseases will make patients less likely to have no after-effects.
A. Smoking is, however, unrelated to lung cancer.
B. Patients who suffer from COPD and Emphysema will be likely to have after-effects.
C. Heavy smokers won't survive if they are sick.
D. There is no chance that a heavy smoker will able to overcome respiratory diseases.

Read the following passage and mark the letter A, B, C or D on your answer sheet to indicate the correct answer to each of the questions.

Mr. Faugel was convinced that students’ nervousness had affected their scores; to reduce the anxiety of these students who had already been tested, he gave 22 of them a beta blocker before readministration of the test. Their scores improved significantly. The other 8 students (who did not receive the beta blockers) improved only slightly. Second-time test-takers nationwide had average improvements which were similar to those in Faugel's non-beta blocker group.

Beta blockers are prescription drugs which have been around for 25 years. These medications, which interfere with the effects of adrenalin, have been used for heart conditions and for minor stress such as stage fright. Now they are used for test anxiety. These drugs seem to help test-takers who have low scores because of test fright, but not those who do not know the material. Since there can be side effects from these beta blockers, physicians are not ready to prescribe them routinely for all test-takers.

Why are beta clockers not prescribed regularly?

A. Students are expected to do poorly.

B. They cause test anxiety.

C. The drugs are only 25 years old.

D. There are side effects.

Đáp án D

Theo như đoạn văn, ____________

A. mọi người đều có thể dùng thuốc chẹn Beta.

B. thuốc chẹn Beta được kê đơn rộng rãi.

C. thuốc chẹn Beta chỉ giúp cải thiện điểm nếu thí sinh thực sự có kiến thức.

D. thuốc chẹn Beta chỉ giúp giảm căng thẳng thi cử.

“These drugs seem to help test-takers who have low scores because of test fright, but not those who do not know the material.”
