Những người dân trên biển luôn phải lao động gian khổ, khó khăn cũng như rất nguy hiểm. Nhưng có một người làm em khâm phục là Châu Hòa Mãn - anh hùng đảo Cô Tô. Châu Hòa Mãn là một người thanh niên khỏe mạnh. Anh có bắp thịt cuốn cuộn. Giọng nói trầm ấm cùng tác phong hòa nhã, thân thiện nên trông anh càng dễ mến. Hòa Mãn cũng như những ngư dân khác, hằng ngày anh ra khơi. Có hôm được mẻ cá nào lớn thì về nhà sớm để vợ chồng cùng ăn. Nhưng cũng có hôm anh đi tận mười ngày. Anh bảo: Đi khơi xa phải cho nước ngọt và sạp để dành uống chứ không được vo gạo nấu cơm. Nghe anh nói thế tôi càng thương anh hơn. Thương cho người ngư dân nghèo, chất phác. Th61 mà anh được mệnh danh là anh hùng lao động ngành như nghiệp, thật đáng khâm phục.
