  • About This Course
  • The Program is offered year-round with sessions beginning every week. Students enrolled in the program receive 28 hours of classroom instruction per week. The Intensive program is the most popular course at Embassy and is ideal for those students who want to achieve maximum progress in their English skills with the time they have available.

The program is offered at 5 levels of instruction from beginner to advanced. Upon their arrival at the center, students’ English abilities are tested in the areas of reading, writing, listening and speaking to guarantee their proper placement into an ability level. To ensure students’ objectives are met, the program regularly assesses their progress and provides students with development reports. As proof of their improvement, students will be presented with the Embassy Certificate of English.

The program’s rigorous curriculum is primarily designed to quickly improve students’ ability to communicate in real-life situations by focusing on the integration of reading, writing, listening and speaking. The curriculum also concentrates on key areas needed for students to attain greater fluency ? primarily being essential grammar, pronunciation, colloquial language, idioms and vocabulary. In addition to the core curriculum, students also choose from special elective classes to improve their fluency, gain qualifications, prepare for university or train for a future career. Elective classes may include such topics as: Pronunciation and Oral Fluency; Grammar Workshop; Idioms and Vocabulary; Communication and Culture; Writing Skills; and test preparation for such exams as Cambridge, TOEIC, TOEFL and IELTS. Outside of the classroom, students can independently participate in local year-round festivals held throughout the city, attend professional sports games or go sightseeing to explore some of the city’s vibrant, eclectic neighborhoods.

Classroom sizes average 10 students per class with a maximum of 15 students. Every effort is made to keep classes at an ideal size for effective English language instruction.

Riêng cái bài này thì dịch sang tiếng anh rùi sang tiếng việt nhớ!Ghi cả bản tiếng anh nha!leuleu

Read the following passage and mark the letter A, B, C or D on your answer sheet to indicate the correct answer to each of the questions.

Although most universities in the United States are on a semester system, which offers classes in the fall and spring, some schools observe a quarter system comprised of fall, winter, spring, and summer quarters. The academic year, September to June, is divided into three quarters of eleven weeks each beginning in September, January, and March: the summer quarter, June to August, is composed of shorter sessions of varied lengths.

There are several advantages and disadvantages to the quarter system. On the plus side, students who wish to complete their degrees in less than the customary four years may take advantage of the opportunity to study year round by enrolling in all four quarters. In addition, although most students begin their programs in the fall quarter, they may enter at the beginning of any other quarters. Finally, since the physical facilities are kept in operation year round, the resources are used effectively to serve the greatest number of students. But there are several disadvantages as well. Many faculties complain that the eleven- week term is simply not enough for them to cover the material required by most college courses. Students also find it difficult to complete the assignments in such a short period of time.

In order to combine the advantages of the quarter system with those of the semester system some colleges and universities have instituted a three-term trimester system. In fourteen weeks, faculty and students have more time to cover material and finish course requirements, but the additional term provides options for admission during the year and accelerates the degree programs for those students who wish to graduate early.
