Reading to oneself is a modern activity which was almost unknown to the scholars of the classical and medieval worlds, while during the fifteenth century the term "reading" undoubtedly meant reading aloud. Only during the nineteenth century did silent reading become commonplace.

One should be wary, however, of assuming that silent reading came about simply because reading aloud was a distraction to others. Examinations of factors related to the historical development of silent reading have revealed that it became the usual mode of reading for most adults mainly because the tasks themselves changed in character.

The last century saw a steady gradual increase in literacy and thus in the number of readers. As the number of readers increased, the number of potential listeners declined and thus there was some reduction in the need to read aloud. As reading for the benefit of listeners grew less common, so came the flourishing of reading as a private activity in such public places as libraries, railway carriages and offices, where reading aloud would cause distraction to other readers.

Towards the end of the century, there was still considerable argument over whether books should be used for information or treated respectfully and over whether the reading of materials such as newspapers was in some way mentally weakening. Indeed, this argument remains with us still in education. However, whatever its virtues, the old shared literacy culture had gone and was replaced by the printed mass media on the one hand and by books and periodicals for a specialised readership on the other.

By the end of the twentieth century, students were being recommended to adopt attitudes to books and to use reading skills which were inappropriate, if not impossible, for the oral reader. The social, cultural and technological changes in the century had greatly altered what the term "reading" implied.

Năm nay, mẹ cô gần bốn mươi mốt tuổi. Với một mỏng, thanh mảnh, đã làm nổi bật vẻ đẹp của người mẹ với nhẹ nhàng, mái tóc đen mượt mà bà mẹ là mẹ thắt lưng dài thắt lên gọn gàng khi con đường. Mắt anh nhìn mẹ cô chọn với đôi mắt luôn trìu mến gần gũi. Mẹ khuôn mặt hình bầu dục với một làn da trắng. Đôi môi mỏng đỏ mũi cao trông tinh tế tỉ càng bị coi là đẹp. Khi mẹ cười trông tươi như hoa, chỉ nở vào buổi sáng hoa hồng. Mẹ tay tròn trĩnh, công bằng đã được nâng lên, cố vấn trẻ em từ khi còn nhỏ họ chỉ tử cung. Giọng nói của một người mẹ đam mê, trong khi êm như tiếng ru, như tiếng chim líu lo vào buổi sáng chim cổ đỏ. May mẹ cô và thêu rất đẹp, đặc biệt là những chiếc váy dài, không thường xuyên hoặc mẹ mặc quần áo gọn gàng, như một người mẹ giáo viên trung học mặc một chiếc áo khoác dài và may bởi mẹ cô trông duyên dáng, thanh lịch.

Ở nhà, cô ấy là người phụ trách công việc gia đình. Mẹ trao cho tôi những công việc nhẹ nhàng như quét dọn, quần áo gấp ... Buổi sáng thức dậy sớm mẹ để chuẩn bị bữa ăn sáng cho cả gia đình, cho hai anh em đi học đúng giờ để học. Khi bạn ốm mẹ phải thức suốt đêm để chăm sóc. Vào buổi tối, cô dành khoảng ba mươi phút để giảng bài cho tôi, sau đó cô ngồi xuống để đánh dấu, kế hoạch bài học để chuẩn bị cho lớp ngày mai ở trường ... Mẹ có lòng thương xót, từ bi, mẹ của cô sinh viên lớp hồ như con của mình, cũng huấn luyện yêu thương mẹ mực nên được rất nhiều học sinh tình yêu. Khi bạn phạm lỗi, tôi chỉ nhắc nhở, không la mắng tôi và đã không đánh tôi bao giờ.

Mẹ cô là giá trị bạn, tôi luôn luôn yêu thương mẹ tự hào và một con trai mẹ. Bất cứ khi nào mẹ ôm, nằm trong bụng mẹ tôi cảm thấy ấm áp. Trong trái tim tôi, cô ấy là tất cả, cô là cổ tích tuyệt vời nhất trong cuộc đời của tôi ... Tôi đã mong muốn vội vàng lớn của họ để làm cho khôn ngoan hơn. Tôi hứa sẽ tiếp tục làm việc chăm chỉ và cố gắng làm tốt để trả nợ mẹ và giáo viên của ông đã dạy, vì vậy người nuôi dạy các con.
