Nhà khoa học người Anh, Stephen Hawking, vừa mới qua đời, hưởng thọ 76 tuổi. Ông là người đặt nền móng cho ngành vũ trụ học, cha đẻ của lý thuyết hố đen phát ra bức xạ (tức bức xạ Hawking) nổi tiếng. Năm 1963, khi còn là nghiên cứu sinh cao học, Ông mắc bệnh xơ cứng teo cơ, một căn bệnh làm giảm khả năng kiểm soát cơ thể, khiến ông chỉ có thể động đậy ngón tay và cử động mắt, nhưng không ảnh hưởng đến trí tuệ và khả năng tư duy của ông. Một người bạn đã làm máy hỗ trợ ngôn ngữ cho Ông và do vậy Ông vẫn tiếp tục nghiên cứu và giảng dạy cho đến hôm nay.

Cuốn sách khoa học nổi tiếng của ông: A Brief History of Time (Lược sử thời gian, sách đã được dịch sang tiếng Việt), giải thích nhiều chủ đề phức tạp của Vũ trụ học chỉ bằng ngôn ngữ phổ thông. (Các bạn học sinh chưa đọc cuốn sách trên thì nên đọc nhé).  

Thế giới đã mất đi một nhà khoa học vĩ đại, nhưng Ông đã để lại nhiều bí mật của vũ trụ chúng ta đang sống.
