Tet is the time when the Lunar calendar year begins which usually fall between mid January to mid February.

People start the arrangement to celebrate this festival about one month prior to Tet which includes cooking traditional foods, cleaning their house and buying new furnitures, etc.

On the Lunar New Year’s Eve, people gather together, makes prayers and stay awake till late night to enjoy the night.

During Tet, there are several customs that make Tet a unique festival. For instance, adults tend to give lucky money to children, visit friend and relatives’ houses, play cards, and going to churches, temples or pagodas to make good prays for their family.

This is an important festival to us. Vietnamese take this day as an important festival day. 1. Last Tet, we spent time on visiting our relatives, friends, colleagues and go to pagodas or temples to pray health, happiness ans success for our families. When coming others’ houses or meeting anybody at Tet, we usually wished each other health, happiness and success and many good things. Children were the happiest at Tet. They were usually received presents, especially little red envelopes with money in as New Year’s Wishes, which people believe that will bring good things to children in the new year.

People usually say “the First Day is Father’s Tet, the Second Day is Mother’s Tet and the Third Day is Teacher’s Tet”. On the First Day morning, after finishing what we had to do in our houses, we went to our parents' house to give New Year’s greeting. People who were married managed to visit their parents on the husband’s side on the First Day, and then their parents on the wife’s side on the next day. I spent the Third Day to visit my teachers. Tet was the time to hold get-together parties.

2. Whether living in the city gives many facilities to our life or not is a controversial issue. Many people think that living in the countryside is always their best selection because it helps them to enjoy a truly peaceful life. However, in my point of view living in the city actually gives many best conditions of our life nowadays because it not only helps to improve our life quality clearly but also makes many good working opportunities to everybody.
First of all, living in the city helps to improve our life quality clearly. You know, I myself have been living at the large city for more ten years, so I can realize precisely that there are many advantages when anybody comes and works there. You have many good chances to study in celebrated high schools and the leading universities in the city nation. This helps you prepare all of the best things about your major for your future jobs. Furthermore, living in the city you will be taken care with the best conditions in national hospitals whenever you are sick or tired. Besides, you always feel relaxed and funny with many entertainment centers and services after ending hard working days at your company.
In addition to helping to improve our life quality remarkably, living in the city also makes many good working opportunities to everybody. Exactly, I mean that most large companies, famous firms and government offices are always in the capital or the big city. Annually, they need to recruit many excellent businessmen, engineers and skilled workers. As a result, this increases good chances for many students who have just graduated and want to work. So, everybody living in the city can earn money for their family’s daily expense more easily than those in the countryside.
In summary, looking at what was discussed above I believe that living in the city is actually a good condition to everybody’s life because it not only helps to improve our life quality better but also increases many working opportunities to everybody.

My last holiday was a five-day trip to Prague in the Czech Republic. I know Prague well because I lived there when I was at university, more than ten years ago.

Instead of staying in a hotel, I stayed with one of my old friends. It was so much fun, and a little bit like my old life. I wanted to do all the same things I did in my university days, so I visited the university. It has changed a lot and looks more modern. I also went to the supermarket near my old house. I loved seeing all the different foods. I was really happy to find my favourite cheese and chocolate biscuits but they were a bit more expensive than I remember!

We did some touristy things too. We walked up beautiful Petrin Hill and around the castle. The views of the city are amazing up there. We walked across the historic Charles Bridge. My friend's flat is very near the TV Tower so we saw the famous baby statues climbing up it. Those things haven't changed, of course.

Last summer holiday, in order to escape the extreme heat of Danang city, my family and I decided to go to Dalat. We went there by bus.

When we got this mountainous and wonderful city, it was getting dark. We felt very excited because of the nice weather and the fresh air. We stayed in Hoa Hong hotel, a little but comfortable one in the centre of the city.

The next day we went shopping in Hoa Binh market and, caught some fresh air by sitting near the Xuan Huong lake. We had lunch in a nice restaurant near the garden of flowers. The food was delicious and cheap especially the vegetables. In the afternoon, we took a taxi to visit the Valley of the Love. How beautiful it was! The following day was for visiting Prenn Waterfall, the Than Tho lake and the Hills of Pine. Every spot has its own beauty, I could say which is the best. People are friendly and polite, especially young Dalat girls with their pink cheeks.

This wonderful holiday helped us to get rid of worries and trouble and gave us health and enthusiasm to resume work again. It was an interesting and unforgettable holiday.

If you ask me about a famous festival in Vietnam, I will definitely talk about Tet Holiday, which is also known as Lunar New Year holiday in Vietnam.

It usually occurs at the end of January and lasts for 3 days. Tet holiday in Vietnam is usually in honor of the departure of the previous year and an occasion to welcome the new year with many blessings. On Tet holiday, we will have family unions to catch up with each other. Besides, some families enjoy this festival by preparing traditional food such as Vietnamese square cake, dried candied fruit, braised pork and eggs, etc. and decorating the house with parallel sentences and peach or apricot blossoms. Especially, for children, I think they look forward to Tet holiday because they can receive lucky money from adults as a way to give them wishes for the new year. For adults, it is an occasion on which they are able to do the spring cleaning and make appetizing food to worship the ancestors.

I would say in this days and age, Tet has lost its original spirit and most adults treat it as a normal holiday in which they can have 2 weeks off to blow off some steam and release stress. However, to me, Tet holiday is still a distinct festival of Vietnam. Whenever this holiday comes, I feel a strong sense of belonging because it reminds me of how diverse our culture can be with different rituals and food. Moreover, I think if Tet holiday didn’t exist, many family members would drift apart due to the hustle and bustle of life. However, since we have Tet, everyone will have at least one or two days to have family gatherings and tighten the bonds with other members.

So I guess that’s all I want to share about Tet in Vietnam.

Additionally, this is also the occasion for people to show gratitude to their ancestors as well as wish kids good fortune by giving them lucky money. Dear .....,

As Tet approaches, I'm buzzing with excitement about the upcoming holiday! Before Tet, I'll be busy cleaning and decorating the house, getting everything ready for the festivities. On the eve of Tet, I plan to gather with close friends for a cozy dinner, welcoming the new year together.

During Tet, on the 1st day, I'll visit my grandparents with my family, enjoying a traditional meal and catching up. On the 2nd day, a group of friends and I are planning a day trip to the countryside, exploring and savoring the festive atmosphere. Finally, on the 3rd day, I'll attend a vibrant local festival with friends, celebrating the joy of Tet.

Wishing you a fantastic Tet filled with joy and laughter!

Love,

I feel so excited each time I write to you and tell you everything in my daily life. In this letter, I want to share my birthday party which was held last Sunday with all of you. I hope that next birthday you and I could enjoy my party together. My mom and I organized a big party in our flower garden. There were about 30 people coming to my party including my friends, my relatives and some neighbors. The garden was beautifully decorated with colorful balloons and ribbons. On that day, I wore a pink dress that my dad bought for me and a crown on my head. My friends said that I looked like a princess. I felt so happy. I also received a lot of presents from my relatives and friends. I thought I was the luckiest princess. During the party, we played some fun games together such as hide-and-seek or bag jumping. Everybody looked very funny and cute. We also danced to the music and sang excitedly together. At the end of the party, my father gave return gifts to children coming to the party. After that, all of us took lots of photos to keep those sweet moments. We said goodbye to the guests when it was dark. That was the most wonderful party I’ve had in my life. Chúc bạn học tốt hihi!
