In the UK, people are finally starting to listen to the message about recycling. British families now recycle about 22% of their waste. Only for five years ago, the figure was 10%. That’s good news for the environment- but there’s a lot more than to do. Some other European countries, like Germany and Holland, already recycle about 60% of their waste and that’s the goal for the UK. Households in England which produce 25 million tons of waste a year. More than half of this is garden waste, paper, cardboard and kitchen waste – with which people could recycle. They could also recycle plastic, wood, glass and aluminum cans. In fact, if everybody in the UK was recycled all of their drink cans, there would be 14 million fewer rubbish bins of waste each year. Recycling isn’t the only way to reduce the amount of rubbish what we throw away. More than 40% of the waste in our bins is packaging from shopping. If we changed the way to we shop, we could easily reduce the amount of waste. For example, street markets and small shops often use less packaging than supermarkets. And being of course, if we grow our own vegetables, there wouldn’t be any packaging at all. |

Some people believe that soon schools will no longer be (1)necessary. Perhaps this will be true one day, but it is (4) hard for me to imagine a world without (5) schools. In fact, we need to look at how we can use new technology to make schools (6)better , not to eliminate them. We should invent a new kind of school that is linked to (7) libraries, museums, science centers, laboratories, and even companies. Experts could give (8) talks on videos or over the Internet. TV (9) networks and local stations could develop programming about things students are actually (10) studying in schools.

Every day of the year throughout the world, about twenty million paper bags and newspapers are screwed and thrown away
Making paper requires a lot of wood pulp and the work of million of workers. Many countries have had plans to recycle waste paper to save money and labor. In countries where there is the cooperation of the public, paper mills recycle as much as sixty percent of waste paper. Their simple work is to take away the ink, crush it and make it into pulp again. For every ton of recycled newsprint, twelve trees can be saved. We can insist that the more paper people save, the more trees are preserved.

- People pollute the environment by throwing litter or garbage all over the places every day. They also dump empty bottles or cans into the rivers, lakes and seas, making the water unclean. They also cut a lot of trees to get wood pulp for making paper. To protect the environment , everyone should classify and put the garbage in a certain bag for making compost and they should recycle waste paper to avoid cutting a lot of trees.
