Dear Mr ..... ,
I am writing this letter to complain about the factory near our village which has caused much air and water pollution. The factory is dumping a large amount of fumes into the air, which cause the respitory deseases of some villagers. Moreover, the factory also discharges harmful chemical waste into our village lake. It killed a lot of fish and now, no one can use the water from the lake because it is poisonous.
We all think the factory should be responded for their unconcious, dangerous and irresponsible action. We also believe the People's Committee should make the decision of punishing the factory heavily and prohibit them from contaminating the environment again in order to protect the villagers' lives.
We look forward to hearing from you and hope you will give the factory the right punishment.
Yours sincerely,
.........
One day in 1963, a dolphin named Elvar and a famous astronomer, Carl Sagan, were playing a little game. The astronomer was visiting an institute which was looking into the way dolphins communicate with each other. He was standing at the edge of one of tanks where several of these highly intelligent, friendly creatures were kept. Elvar had just swum up alongside him and had turned on his back. He wanted Sagan to scratch his stomach again, as the astronomer had done twice before. But this time Elvar was too deep in the water for Sagan to reach him. Elvar looked up at Sagan, waiting. Then, after a minute or so, the dolphin leapt up through the water into the air and made a sound just like the words "More!"
The astonished astronomer went to the director of the institute and told him about the incident.
"Oh, yes. That´s one of the words he knows," the director said, showing no surprise at all.
Dolphins have bigger brains in proportion to their body size than humans have, and it has been known for a long time that they can make a number of sounds. What is more, these sounds seem to have different functions, such as warning each other of danger. Sound travels much faster and further in water than it does in air. That is why the parts of the brain that deal with sound are much better developed in dolphins than in humans. But can it be said that dolphins have a "language", in the real sense of the word? Scientist don´t agree on this.
1/ The dolphin leapt into the air because
A. Sagan was too near the water
B. it was part of the game they were playing.
C. he wanted Sagan to scratch him again
D. Sagan wanted to communicate with him
2/ "Dolphins" brains are particularly well developed to
A. help them to travle fast in water
B. arrange sounds in different structures
C. respond to different kinds of sound
D. communicate with humans through sound
Levi Strauss a young immigrant from Germany, arrived in San Francisco in 1850 . California was in the middle of the Gold Rush, thousands of men were coming to California to dig for gold and Levi Strauss came to sell canvas to these gold miners. Canvas is a heavy fabric. So Levi Strauss thought the miners could use the canvas for tents.
One day Strauss heard a miner complain that he couldn´t find clothes strong enough for the work he was doing Strauss got an idea he quickly took some of his canvas and made it into pants these pants were what the miners needed. In one day Strauss sold all the pants he had made.
Strauss wanted to improve his pants he wanted to make them even better. He bought a fabric that was softer than canvas but just as strong. This fabric came from Nimes, a city in France, and was called serge de Nimes. The miners liked this fabric they called it "denim" (from de Nimes) and bought even more pants from Strauss.
However, denim had no color because of this the denim pants did not look very interesting and they got dirty easily. To solve these problems Strauss made the denim blue.
Strauss continued to improve his jeans. Today the company he started is known around the world and jeans are considered not just practical but very fashionable as well.

The gold mine pool leaching process has strict requirements on the dosage of cyanide solution; too much is of a waste and (36) too little can't guarantee the leaching effect. When using CNFREE eco-friendly gold leaching reagent, the requirements can be appropriately relaxed (37) in terms of dosage, and the same leaching effect of cyanide can be obtained, which saves cost and reduces environmental pollution. Add a small (38) amount of leaching material to the ore, agitate it uniformly and (39) put it into the pool, then spray the leaching solution containing CNFREE gold environmental leaching solution with the spray system to prevent the solidification of gold ore in the pool, and greatly (40) improve the permeability and leaching rate of the gold mine.
