Mother Earth is always so wonderful. She provides us with places to live, water to drink, food to eat and fresh air to breathe but we, human, take her for grated. We would never destroy our sixty-million dollar house on Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street and yet we burn down trees, killing the forests that are valuable resources. Even though we learn that life is the planet started from the oceans and Earth wouldn’t be the only living planet without water presence, not to mention the fact that more than 70% of human body is water, we pollute water by all means such as throwing trashes, leaking oil and toxic substances from industrial companies and automobiles. Human becomes the most dangerous threat to the environment. At the same time, we are the only one who can work together to heal the Earth.
Air pollution is partly caused by forest fire. Firstly, to safe our environment, people must be prevented from making fire by smoking or tilling near the woods. Secondly, there should always be a team of well- trained fire fighters getting ready to start their work at any time to save the forests. Lastly, taking field trips to the forests is a great way to teach young citizens to respect the nature and having better attitude toward environmental issues. Together each of us can plant a tree, can remind each other to behave better with trees and flowers on the streets, at the parks.
War is another thing that human does which hurts not only each other but also damages the environment. Actually, the military machinery and explosives such as firearms, howitzers, mines, etc. are extremely harmful to the environment! They have caused unprecedented levels of deforestation and habitat destruction. For example, the destruction of 35% of Cambodia’s intact forests due to two decades of civil conflict. The number of extinct animals, trees, and other important species also increases rapidly after the war. Even though in my biology class I learn that extinction is a part of natural selection, it is sad to know the fact that most animals and trees become extinct because of human fighting. Hence, stopping fighting or struggling against the battle will surely help protecting this Lonely Planet.
Black smoke and dark particles from factory smokestacks are another causes leading to the air pollution. Thus, in order to keep the air fresh, the government and local authorities should be stricter, the law and the rules promulgated ought to be clearer and more detailed. In addition, the board of directors of each company must consider and find all the ways to minimize the amount of the carbon emissions and recycle their waste or products more effectively as well as wisely choose less toxic materials in the process. For example, it takes 10 years for a tint can to be completely absorbed by the soil so there should be a better material to make canned food. On the one hand, environmentalists have to discuss about the problems with the company leaders and help them to figure out good solutions. On the other hand, our country is always proud of the International Chemistry Awards that students win each year. Why not take advantage of those young talented students? If there are chances and awards given for students who can come up with more effective solutions for those complicated industry problems, the results will be great.
There are simple daily baby steps that each of us, students, adults, girls, and boys can do to save the Earth. Riding bikes (or using buses) is a good hobby. It is an interesting activity bringing us energy and excitement. More than that, the atmosphere will not be polluted by carbon dioxide exhausted from motorbike race cans. At home, recycling paper, plastic, glass bottles, cardboard, and aluminum cans is one of the ways conserving energy and reducing production emissions. Going shopping, we are recommended to choose products that have less packaging and can be reusable like rechargeable batteries. Instead of using plastic bags, shopping with a canvas bag is a very good solution.
Not only the air but also the water is being polluted. Comprising over 70% of the Earth’s surface, water is undoubtedly the most precious natural resource that exists on our Green Planet. In some places like where it is overpopulated, India, Africa, water becomes shortage as people no longer have enough water supplies. Farmers are infecting this invaluable resource by using fertilizers and insecticides in very careless way these days. Will you be afraid that the water bottles you just bought contain the remaining toxic substances? Will that fact make you start to think twice before doing something to the environment? Using pesticide hurts everyone: the soils, the water, the farmers’ health, and of course, the consumers’ health. Lots of people can contribute some helps to resolve this problem. Medical doctors may spend their time talking about cancer and other chemical exposed related diseases while students may give out posters and more talks to those husbandmen. At the same time, the government can take a step further by encouraging the farmers to grow organic products and make sure they will have markets to consume their products. Lastly, chemists and agricultures engineers will make a good team to discover more effective methods.
Most of us enjoy breathing in the smell of fresh flower early morning, watching a yellow leave falling into a blue river. It is sad for our next generation if the only thing they can smell is the plastic mask that they wear everyday since the environment is so polluted and toxic to inhale. Just imagine that your kids don’t have the concept “forests” and “rivers,” they only know those terms in a cyclopedia and see those things in pictures. For the benefit of ourselves and our children, we must take good care of the Earth nurtures us generation after generation. We have two choices: to take good care of the Earth or everything becomes extinct./
Even in the era of social distancing, we can still connect with our neighbors and offer support to those in need.
By Jaida Nabayan | April 8, 2020A volunteer speaks to a woman she's providing with home care in Rome during Italy's COVID-19 lockdown.
MARCO DI LAURO / GETTY IMAGESAmid the COVID-19 crisis, supporting our local communities is essential during these challenging times. As cities and towns ask their residents to stay home to slow the virus’ spread, many of us are grappling with how to be there for each other when we can’t be near each other. Our work at Earthjustice continues without interruption. Staff members nationwide are forging ahead in a remote capacity and sharing ideas to safely connect with our neighbors and offer assistance to those most affected by the pandemic. Here are eight ways we are supporting our communities that we hope will be helpful for your own local efforts:
GIVE FIVE, WAVE FIVE“One thing I have been doing is making a $5 donation at the grocery check-out every time I shop now. Food banks are struggling, and even with my husband closing his acupuncture clinic we can afford $5. It's small, but it feels good. Another micro-action I have been doing is waving and saying hi to neighbors, through the window if they walk by or across the street if we are outside shoveling snow or taking out trash at the same time. We have a number of older neighbors too, and isolation is hard. Small acts of kindness go a long way.” – Karilyn
TRANSIT(ION) TO DONATION“Since I’m not using public transit money for a while I’m cancelling my transit order and allocating the funds from that to donations to arts orgs, mutual aid organizing groups, and restaurant gift certificates. It feels good.” – Emily J.
CONVERSATIONS WITH DOGS“On my walks, it has seemed like many folks are avoiding conversation and eye contact (maybe it’s just me), but I’ve been going out of my way to say hello and just try to connect... it seems important to make sure we don’t forget how to be humans while also keeping distance. I’ve also waved at dogs. They appear to be into it.” – Ali W.
WHOLESALE ORDER UP!“I just ordered a 25-pound box of produce from a family-run produce wholesaler here in LA. All their customers are restaurants who cancelled all their orders. So they’re selling direct and will even deliver to keep their staff employed. They expressed a lot of gratitude for the support so their business can remain throughout this crisis. Not sure how widespread this is but it might be worthwhile to look out for this in your neighborhood.” – Linda
MASKS FOR ALL“I’m doing an N95 and surgical mask drive for some doctor friends at Kaiser who are starting to ration them. If you have any boxes/packages to spare (maybe some unused from our last wildfire season, or some you bought for a home project you never got around to), I can — carefully — pick them up from your porch and do a delivery. So far we’ve got about 20 unopened N95 masks for delivery.” – Zoe
DINE INSIDE“It’s a tiny thing, but we’ve been ordering food from local restaurants (even though we have a stocked pantry!) to try to support them. Making sure we can do either curbside pickup or contactless delivery (to protect them and us from potential transmission) and tipping a ton.” – Nick R.
BUY NOW, USE LATER GIFTCARDSA number of small local businesses I’m connected to have asked that customers purchase gift certificates during this time. I want to give a shout out to my personal favorite in Oakland: Nick’s Pizza (a very small, very queer friendly bakery on Shattuck. Their bagels are GOOD and I miss them A LOT). You can find information about how to support them on their Instagram: nickspizza510.” – Christine (This bakery has also set up a Worker Relief Fund!)
THE START OF SOMETHING NEW“Some friends and I got together to create a fundraising initiative to support COVID-19 relief efforts in the Bay Area. Would super appreciate it if folks would consider contributing and also sharing with your networks! Thank you.” – Rebecca B. (This initiative is aimed at supporting relief efforts impacting vulnerable communities.)

I would like to talk about the Lunar New Year festival, also known as the Tet holiday, which is the occasion expected the most by Vietnamese people every year. The festival usually lasts for around 3-4 days, and it takes place when a new year comes according to the lunar calendar.
– The Lunar New Year festival takes place because it is one of the most well-known traditions of Vietnam. Our people have been celebrating this occasion for thousands of years, and although there has been some recent argument about whether we should stop celebrating this festival, I do not think this activity will come to an end soon, at least not in the short term.
– There are some common things that people do during this festival. Perhaps the most important thing is that people who work and study in big cities would go back to their hometown to celebrate the new year with their families and relatives. The new year festival is one of very few occasions that families can gather together, so it is easy to understand why everyone in Vietnam expects this festival so much. Another thing that we usually do is that we give children some “lucky money” with the hope that it will bring fortune to those kids. We also have some other activities such as making “chung” cake, visiting temples and pagodas… and so on.
– The new year festival is so important to me and also to all Vietnamese citizens. The reason is because we get more days off from work and study, and therefore we have more time to spend with our families and our loved ones. It is also a great time to think about what we have done in the previous year, and to make plans for the upcoming year.

I’d like to talk about Singapore, one of several cities I have visited and really enjoyed. I vacationed in this wonderful city last summer with my sister, Min, and we stayed there for 5 days.
Singapore is a state-city located to the southeast of Vietnam and it took us only 2 hours to fly there from Hanoi.
When I arrived in Singapore, I was quite impressed by the way the city looked. The streets were incredibly clean, I could walk around the city all day and come back home without any dirt on my shoes. During my stay in Singapore, I did some shopping and visited some famous landmarkslike the Merlion statue, Singapore zoo and the botanical gardens.
For me, Singapore is well worth visiting for many reasons. Firstly, the public transport system in Singapore is extremely reliable. People don’t have to spend hours waiting for buses or trains, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Another thing that I miss about Singapore is its multi-cultural nature. During the 5 days that I spent in Singapore, I bumped into people from many different countries. English is the first language of this country so it was great to get the chance to practice my English-speaking skills with the local people and also other tourists. Five days in Singapore passed by so fast that I wish I could’ve stayed a bit longer.
I often ask her to go to the milk tea shop, go to the park or come to my house to play, she has a strange hobby of collecting colorful stones and decorating picture frames and walls of her house. When I go to her house to play, she always brings her things out for me to see. It's really colorful and interesting. My sister likes her because she's a very nice person.
Sometimes people forget how we depend on nature and environment surrounding us. We spend mindlessly the resources given by nature and believe that they are unlimited. Over the last millennia the population on the planet grew immensely and our needs increase with every year. We achieved great breakthrough in industry and other fields of production. But this growth resulted in poor environmental conditions. It seems that every our achievement and advancement only do damage to nature.
We have been using natural resources thoughtlessly for many years. Once we exhausted one resource we started to use up another alternative. Have you ever thought what our life will be when coal and oil will come to the end? Plug-in hybrid vehicles are good solutions for the fuel crisis to come.
We must reconsider our lifestyle we got used to. Simple rules will help you to save environment, keep fit and save money.
These and other ideas will help to preserve environment and make life more sustainable. The tips are not difficult to fulfill everyday. We must develop a habit to live frugally without excessive luxury.
New generation will need new conditions to successfully survive in our deteriorating natural environment. The future catastrophes are not distant events, they happen here and now. We must raise new ecologically concerned generation to prevent possible problems. We have to take changes from ourselves and promote green living among rising generation.
Nature gave us all necessary resources to live and prosper. Now it is in danger and needs our help. What else we can do to protect environment? First of all this decisions must be made on governmental level and provide legal limitations for industries that emit a lot of greenhouse gases. We must unite together in order to protect the place we live in. People are an integral part of nature, we are dependent of it as we can not imagine our life without nature. So why to destroy environment and bite the hand that feeds you? We must stop deforestation and plant trees on cut down areas. Trees are natural filter of air that absorb carbon dioxide and produce oxygen. Cutting down trees we deprive animals of their natural environment and the soil begin to grow in erosion. Planting trees will save birds and other animals.
We often make forced choices that are advertised on TV. Manufacturers try to rise their profits and sell more products. Sometimes we have so many unnecessary things we do not use. Imagine that you are moving your house, what are the necessary items you may need to live, only several bags. In reality the matter is opposite. There are a lot of things we do not use.
People have to reconsider their views of life and promote healthy and ecologically friendly lifestyle. It is up to us to change situation for better and leave good legacy for generations to come.
