As I approach the island on which my dream house awaits, I catch a quick
glimpse of it. It is huge, and is the most noticeable building in the area. My
private plane lands on the air strip next to the house. I get out of the plane
and start my journey through a heavily wooded path leading to my dream house.
I walk with anxiety toward the house at which I will spend the rest of my life.
All around me lie the most beautiful trees and plants you have ever seen. It
is peaceful but you can hear the sounds of birds chirping and small forest
creatures frolicking in the under brush. As I continue to walk along the path
the end starts to appear. I now see my house for the first time up close.
Nothing could have prepared me for the moment I was about to experience.
My house that I designed is all I imagined and more. It is a four story
dream on a huge fifteen acre lot. As I approach the stairs at the entrance to
the house I am surrounded by four columns leading to the most elegant doors I
have ever seen. They are made of mahogany and have a stained glass window in
the center. The handles and the frame is made of brass. As I continue around
the house I come across three windows overlooking the entrance to the house.
There are black shutters on each window. As the porch continues to the south
side of the house I am now looking over the Pacific Ocean. A huge eight foot
picture is facing the same way I am. As I look down and observe the ocean I
see two piers jutting out into the Pacific. On either side of the piers are
huge boulders protecting the coast line from erosion. The house's walls are
made of stucco and it has an old fashion shingles that are a clay color.
As I walk into the back yard I am surrounded by the best things a man
could ever want. Well not quite everything! But a lot of things. I walk
toward the road and I first come across a basketball court. To the left of the
basket ball court is a tennis court. There is a bar in between the two to take
a break at between games. On the opposite side of the yard there is an in
ground swimming pool that is connected to the pool inside the house. As my
journey comes to a close I notice a white gazebo off to the east of the house.
It is in a position such that you can see anyone entering or leaving the lot if
you are sitting in it.
As my plane leaves to go home to pack I take one last look at the house.
I think to myself, "Yes this is my dream house, My dream house."

Ở mỗi vùng miền trong cả nước, người dân lại có phong tục chọn các loại quả và bài trí mâm khác nhau tuỳ thuộc vào khí hậu, sản vật và quan niệm từng vùng.
Các loại quả không thể thiếu khi bày mâm ngũ quả miền Bắc có thể kể đến chuối, bưởi, cam, quất, đào, hồng, táo, lựu… Cách trình bày truyền thống thường phải theo ngũ hành, trước hết là nải chuối đặt ở dưới cùng để đỡ lấy toàn bộ những loại quả khác. Chính giữa nải chuối xanh thẫm là quả bưởi tròn căng mọng hoặc quả phật thủ có màu vàng đẹp mắt. Những quả nhỏ hơn như cam, quất, hồng… sẽ xếp xen kẽ xung quanh. Sự sắp xếp khá tinh tế và chi tiết giữa màu sắc và kích thước của các loại quả sẽ mang lại sự hài hòa đẹp mắt.
Người miền Nam bày mâm ngũ quả theo mong muốn “cầu sung vừa đủ xài” ước mong năm mới đủ đầy, sung túc, tương ứng với 5 loại quả: Mãng cầu, sung, dừa, đu đủ, xoài. Bên cạnh đó, nhiều gia đình còn bày thêm quả thơm (dứa) để cầu ước cho một năm con cháu đầy nhà, hay cầu ước nhiều may mắn với một cặp dưa hấu xanh vỏ đỏ lòng. Về cách bài trí, mâm ngũ quả của người miền Nam thể hiện rõ tính bình dị, dân dã và hóm hỉnh. Mỗi người một cuộc sống và mong muốn khác nhau nhưng cũng chỉ cần ước muốn được “đủ” mà thôi.
Nếu mâm ngũ quả hai miền Nam, Bắc có sự khác biệt thì mâm ngũ quả miền Trung lại có sự giao thoa của hai vùng miền này. Các loại quả thường được bày rất đa dạng phong phú, bao gồm: Chuối, bưởi, xoài, dưa hấu, cam, táo, nho, sung, dứa, mãng cầu. Cách bày cũng đơn giản theo hình thức quả to và nặng đặt ở dưới làm đế, tiếp đó là những quả có trọng lượng nhỏ hơn được chèn bên trên hoặc xen kẽ vào chỗ trống. Nhiều gia đình còn cài xen kẽ những bông hoa cúc vàng tươi vào mâm ngũ quả để cho đẹp mắt hơn.
Với nhịp sống hiện đại, giờ đây mâm ngũ quả không chỉ có những loại quả truyền thống mà gia chủ đã có nhiều lựa chọn đa dạng hơn trong khi vẫn bảo đảm lưu giữ những ý nghĩa tập tục phù hợp với chủ nhà. Một trong những loại trái cây được ưa chuộng trong ngày Tết gần đây chính là quả chanh leo với giá trị tâm linh không phải ai cũng biết đến: Màu vàng tươi rói tượng trưng cho tài lộc, ngoài ra cũng lành tính và không kị tuổi nào. Những hạt chanh leo màu vàng thơm mát trào ra giống như những hạt vàng kết hợp cùng màu hồng may mắn đem lại cảm giác sung túc, no đủ.

Chủ nhật tuần trước, lớp mình tổ chức một chuyến đi dã ngoại đến đảo Sơn Tinh camp. Chúng mình xuất phát từ lúc 5 giờ và phải mất 3 tiếng mới đến nơi. Trên đường đi, mọi người đều khá hồi hộp và háo hức. Hôm ấy, trời rất đẹp, không khí trong lành. Trên đảo có rất nhiều nhà sàn và xích đu. Chúng mình được phân công dựng lều. Sau đó, mình tham gia những trò chơi tập thể như mèo đuổi chuột, bịt mắt bắt dê,... Các bạn đều rất hào hứng và thích thú. Một số bạn thua phải chịu phạt, làm mặt con bò rất buồn cười. Hôm ấy, cô giáo còn tổ chức sinh nhật cho một số bạn trong lớp. Đến trưa, đa số mọi người đều cảm thấy đói, chúng mình trở về lều, ăn những thức ăn đã được chuẩn bị sẵn từ hôm trước, sau đó, ngồi kể chuyện và ca hát, chụp ảnh chung. Buổi chiều, chúng mình được dạo biển bằng tàu thủy. Đây là lần đầu mình được trải nghiệm đi trên mặt nước, cảm giác vô cùng tuyệt vời. Đến 5 giờ, mọi người phải thu xếp hành lí để trở về, mình mua được một số món quà lưu niệm nhỏ. Trên đường đi, nhìn bóng hòn đảo xa dần, mình mong rằng sẽ có nhiều hơn nữa những chuyến dã ngoại lí thú như vầy.
