Lễ hội Đền Hùng được tổ chức hàng năm từ ngày 8 đến ngày 11 tháng 3 âm lịch. Ngày chính hội là ngày 10Ngày 3 tháng 3 âm lịch, Quốc hội đã chấp thuận cho nhân dân lao động Việt Nam hàng năm có thêm một ngày lễ quốc khánh là ngày Giỗ Tổ Hùng Vương. Hàng năm, vào dịp lễ truyền thống này, người Việt Nam trên toàn thế giới lại cùng anh em, anh chị em hướng về ngày Quốc khánh Việt Nam để tưởng nhớ các bậc tiền nhân. Lễ chính diễn ra tại Đền Hùng trên núi Nghĩa Lĩnh, huyện Phong Châu, tỉnh Phú Thọ, cách Hà Nội khoảng 85km về phía Tây Bắc. Lễ hội Đền Hùng là một trong những lễ hội quan trọng và linh thiêng của dân tộc Việt Nam, đã in sâu vào tâm thức của mỗi người dân Việt Nam, bất kể họ xuất thân từ đâu.

Elephant Racing Festival, one of the biggest festivals in Tay Nguyen, is held annually in the third lunar month. As preparation for the festival, villagers feed their elephants with a wide range of food:  grass, corns, sugar canes, sweet potatoes, papayas, and bananas. Also, in order to preserve their strength, the elephants take a rest without hard work.

On the day of the event, elephants from several villages gather at Don Village. Each time, ten elephants will run at the same time for about one or two kilometers. The competition is guided by the sound of tu va, a kind of horn. The winning elephant will receive a laurel wreath as a sign of victory, and it will enjoy sugar canes and bananas from surrounding people. After finishing the race at Don Village, the elephants move to Serepok River for swimming competition.
