It took us five or six hours by car to get there from Ha Noi. We spent more than a week there. The weather was perfect. It was sunny, cool and windy. We enjoyed walking along the seaside at night very much. It was really interesting when we knew about the legenda of Ha Long Bay. We really want to come back there when we have time next year. For Vietnamese, Lunar New year is the most important festival of a year because it is the beginning of a year. If we have a good beginning throughout first three days of year, we will have much luck during that year. Therefore, the activity of welcoming Tet festival is celebrated carefully in order to avoid unfortunate mistakes. And according to each area of the country, Vietnamese have different ways. Although I am a Vietnamese, I don’t know how families in other parts of my country welcome Tet holiday. My family, an age –old Southern family, usually celebrates Tet as this following way. Tet holiday begins on twenty-ninth of December. We start on decorating our house and preparing food for tet holiday. My father and I are responsible for tidying up our house. Quickly, the house becomes splendid with a very beautiful apricot blossom full of sweet-smelling blooming flowers in the middle of living room. On the branches, we also put some lovely greeting cards which make the tree more beautiful. When we finish our duties, my mother and sister also finish cooking. The kitchen is now full of delicious dishes whose smell float into the air. We usually keep many kinds of food in our kitchen in New Year festival. At lunch, we prepare a big feast to donate the ancestors. At the New Year‘s Eve, our family usually gather together. We watch television or play some traditional games. Until the clock strikes twelve tones to signal the moment of a new year, we donate the ancestors again. Then, my sister and I say “happy new year” to my parents and get lucky money from them. Next, we have a big meal to welcome New Year. Although all of us say nothing about our senses at that time, I know every body is cheerful and hopes for a lucky year. In three Tet days, we are usually well-dress to visit our relatives, teachers. We bring offerings to sacrifice ancestral altars, congratulate the olds on advancing in years and say New Year’s greetings to the others. Although we all are quite tired in these days, we are really joyful. Thanks to Tet holiday, we become closer and closer. Tet festival is very significant for Vietnamese, and these are all of my Tet holiday. I hope every year we have three great Tet days so that we have an extremely smooth year.

Topic 2: write a letter to your friends about your party last weekend
Dear John,
I'm very happy when I received your letter. I'm writing this letter to tell you about the party I went last week. That was my best friend birthday party.
Huong is my close friend. She turned 25 recently and her parents held a birthday party for her. I was one of those invited. The party began at about three in the afternoon. There were about twenty guests gathered in her house. We were all dressed in our best clothes. Everyone, especially Huong was very happy. We gave our presents to her and she happily opened them. It must really be exciting to receive all those presents. After that her mother served us soft drinks and delicious titbits. We then played some games like "Musical Chairs" and "Treasure Hunt". The winners were given prizes. At about four-thirty her father brought out the birthday cake. It was beautifully decorated with pink and white ice cream. 25 colorful candles sat in the middle of the cake. We all sang "Happy Birthday" to Huong after which she blew out the candles and cut the cake. Everyone clapped out hands eagerly. We helped ourselves to slices of the delicious cake. Then we continued our games.
Finally at about six in the evening the party came to an end. We were all tired but happy. I helped Huong and her parent clean up the mess we made. After that I walked home with a very good feeling .

Topic 3: you have just moved to a new house. Write a letter to your friend about your new house.
Dear Helen,
I’m just writing to let you know that I shifted to a new house two weeks ago.
I had been awaiting promotion for a long time and now I have been promoted as a branch manager in the newly opened branch of my company. The new office is a long way away from the house where I lived before. The long commute made me very tired and so I decided to move to a new place.
I’m now living in a fully furnished brand new house. It has a large living room, a modular kitchen, two cosy bedrooms and especially a spacious parking area. The house is surrounded by a beautiful garden, which I love the most. The balcony is very attractive and it is the place where I relax after a long busy day. The rent is quite high; nevertheless, I am comfortable living here because of the easy access to office and other amenities.
So, when are we going to meet up? If you have time next weekend please come with your family. We will have lunch and spend some quality time together. You can also take a look at my new house.

How are you? Thank you for your wonderful gift. I think you got an enjoyable summer holiday. And I would like to tell you about my last summer holiday.
I spent my summer holiday with my family in Da Nang for 3 days. That was really great days for me. On the first day, we had a trip to Ba Na Hills. The atmosphere was very fresh, it made me feel good. We visited many places such as Fantasy Park, Debay Cellar, French Village, etc.
On the second day, we went to visit My Son Sanctuary and go swimming in the afternoon. Da Nang beach is very pure and the scene is really beautiful. So I took many nice pictures.
And on the last day, we just walked around the town, enjoy some delicious dishes of Da Nang such as bun Quang, banh trang thit heo, etc and bought some souvenirs. I have a great gift for you. I will send your gift and the beautiful pictures that I took for you.
I really had a great time with my family. Da Nang is a wonderful place and people in here are friendly. I think this is a place I shall never forget. So how is your summer vacation? Write to me and tell me about it.

I study at school in 3 hours from Monday to Friday.My class have forty students and they are all friendly. We also go out together in freetime. Dear Peter,
How are you? I’m writing to tell you about a fantastic city called Trakia; it’s in the south west of Turkey.
The city has a beautiful market in the centre, which sells hand-made carpets and hats. There are many restaurants selling good local food and wine, which comes from fields around the city. It’s a very old city and no cars are allowed in the centre of the city, so you have to either walk or go by horse and cart. I like this city because it’s very old and has many beautiful buildings; also, the views from the city walls are beautiful because the city is so high up on a hill.I’ve only visited the city once but I will definitely go again on my next holiday. I hope you’ll be able to come too!

Dear Mai,
We are having a wonderful time in Ho Chi Minh City. The people are friendly and helpful and the weather has been hot and sunny. I went there with my parents.
In Ho Chi Minh City, I visited my elder sister, Tram and her friends. It was nice to see them.
In Ho Chi Minh City, there are many beautiful scenes. It has Nha Rong Harbor, Cu Chi promenade, Suoi Tien water park, Starlight Bridge, Ben Thanh Market, Independence Palace,Vietnam History Museum,....
While my father visited the Vietnam History Museum and Ben Thanh Market, my mother and I went shopping and supermarket. I bought lots of souvenirs and foods for my sister and her friends. My father is always complaining about the heaviness of my suitcase.

How are you? As you know, last week I travelled to Ho Chi Minh City by plane with my parents. Before I arrived there, I had seen Ho Chi Minh City on Internet. I think it's the most exciting, amazing place I've seen before. When I arrived, the sky changed into black with fewer stars than my city. But it was bright without stars. Do you know why ? Of course that's the light from the lights. The next day, I went to Duc Ba Cathedral which is the symbol of Ho Chi Minh city and it was constructed by French.Actually, it wasn't the only that I met. But I think I should tell you some place where is really well-known. Oh, I also had a great moments in Ben Thanh market. Although I hadn't known anything about that, when I arrrived at Ben Thanh market, I think it's quite attractive. The days after I only prepared to come back.And I think it's the experiment that I had after the trip.
That's what I felt and I knew about Ho Chi Minh City when I was there.
