Canberra is Australia's capital city. Canberra has a population of 381,488, the largest intra-city and eighth-most populous city in the nation. The city is located in the extreme north of the Australian Capital Territory, 280 km (170 mi) south-west of Sydney, and 660 km (410 mi) northeast of Melbourne.
Location Canberra was chosen as the location of the national capital in 1908, as an arrangement between two of Australia's largest cities, Sydney and Melbourne, Australia. This is a completely planned city, and does not belong to any state. After an international design competition, a design by Walter Burley Griffin and Marion Mahony Griffin was selected and the construction began in 1913. The design of the city was influenced by the city garden movement. and incorporates important natural vegetation, making Canberra the "dusty capital."
Canberra's growth and development was hampered by two world wars and the Great Depression. The national capital emerged as a thriving metropolis after World War II, when Prime Minister Robert Menzies fought for the development of the capital and the National Capital Development Board formed with executive power. Although the Australian Capital Territory is now self-governing, the federal government maintains some influence through the National Capital Agency

Cảnh đoàn thuyền đánh cá ra khơi đã được nhà thơ Tế Hanh miêu tả thành công trong bài thơ “Quê hương”:
“Khi trời trong, gió nhẹ, sớm mai hồng
Dân trai tráng bơi thuyền đi đánh cá”.
Trước hết, câu thơ đầu tiên cho ta thấy đoàn thuyền đánh cá ra khơi vào một buổi bình minh khi gió yên, biển lặng - một không gian tinh khôi, mới mẻ, trong sáng. (Có lẽ nào đây không phải là một ngày đẹp trời hứa hẹn một chuyến ra đầy thắng lợi hay sao?) Và hiện ra trong không gian ấy là hình ảnh con thuyền ra khơi:
“Chiếc thuyền nhẹ hăng như con tuấn mã
Phăng mái chèo mạnh mẽ vượt trường giang”.
Phép tu từ so sánh chiếc thuyền với các động từ, tính từ “hăng, phăng, vượt” cho thấy sức mạnh, khí thế hứng khởi, dũng mãnh của đoàn thuyền đang lướt sóng ra khơi, gợi hình ảnh người dân làng chài “dân trai tráng” khoẻ mạnh, vạm vỡ. Có lẽ nào đó không phải bức tranh lao động sinh động và khoẻ khoắn hay sao? Ngoài ra, hình ảnh cánh buồm - linh hồn con thuyền cũng được Tế Hanh miêu tả tinh tế trong hai câu thơ cuối:
“Cánh buồm giương to như mảnh hồn làng
Rướn thân trắng bao la thâu góp gió”.
Tế Hanh đã so sánh cánh buồm - một vật cụ thể, hữu hình với mảnh hồn làng - một thứ trìu tượng, vô hình. Nó giúp cảnh buồm giản đơn hiện ra thật linh thiêng, kì vĩ, lớn lao, trở thành linh hồn làng chài, biểu tượng quê hương; như tiếp thêm sức mạnh, niềm tin cho người dân đánh bắt cá ngoài biển khơi. Cuối cùng, nghệ thuật nhân hoá qua động từ “rướn” cùng màu sắc và tư thế “thâu góp gió” đã cho ta thấy sức vươn của con thuyền và sự bay bổng, lãng mạn của nó. Ôi, hình ảnh đoàn thuyền ra khơi thật sinh động, hấp dẫn, gợi cảm và gây ấn tượng sâu sắc trong lòng người đọc biết bao!
