For Vietnamese, Lunar New year is the most important festival of a year because it is the beginning of a year. If we have a good beginning throughout first three days of year, we will have much luck during that year. Therefore, the activity of welcoming Tet festival is celebrated carefully in order to avoid unfortunate mistakes. And according to each area of the country, Vietnamese have different ways. Although I am a Vietnamese, I don’t know how families in other parts of my country welcome Tet holiday. My family, an age –old Southern family, usually celebrates Tet as this following way. Tet holiday begins on twenty-ninth of December. We start on decorating our house and preparing food for tet holiday. My father and I are responsible for tidying up our house. Quickly, the house becomes splendid with a very beautiful apricot blossom full of sweet-smelling blooming flowers in the middle of living room. On the branches, we also put some lovely greeting cards which make the tree more beautiful. When we finish our duties, my mother and sister also finish cooking. The kitchen is now full of delicious dishes whose smell float into the air. We usually keep many kinds of food in our kitchen in New Year festival. At lunch, we prepare a big feast to donate the ancestors. At the New Year‘s Eve, our family usually gather together. We watch television or play some traditional games. Until the clock strikes twelve tones to signal the moment of a new year, we donate the ancestors again. Then, my sister and I say “happy new year” to my parents and get lucky money from them. Next, we have a big meal to welcome New Year. Although all of us say nothing about our senses at that time, I know every body is cheerful and hopes for a lucky year. In three Tet days, we are usually well-dress to visit our relatives, teachers. We bring offerings to sacrifice ancestral altars, congratulate the olds on advancing in years and say New Year’s greetings to the others. Although we all are quite tired in these days, we are really joyful. Thanks to Tet holiday, we become closer and closer. Tet festival is very significant for Vietnamese, and these are all of my Tet holiday. I hope every year we have three great Tet days so that we have an extremely smooth year.

Dear .....,
As Tet approaches, I'm buzzing with excitement about the upcoming holiday! Before Tet, I'll be busy cleaning and decorating the house, getting everything ready for the festivities. On the eve of Tet, I plan to gather with close friends for a cozy dinner, welcoming the new year together.
During Tet, on the 1st day, I'll visit my grandparents with my family, enjoying a traditional meal and catching up. On the 2nd day, a group of friends and I are planning a day trip to the countryside, exploring and savoring the festive atmosphere. Finally, on the 3rd day, I'll attend a vibrant local festival with friends, celebrating the joy of Tet.
Wishing you a fantastic Tet filled with joy and laughter!
Love,

I know many festivals but the one I like the most is Tet. It is the most important festival in Vietnam. Tet is celebrated every year on January 1 of the lunar calendar. When Tet comes, we are 1 year old. Before Tet, family members will go to buy food, fruit, and flowers. And they also buy decorations and cherry blossom lines. People will decorate the house, and they will place the potted peach blossom tree in the right front position of the house. They also make banh chung, the traditional dish of our country. During Tet, everyone in the family will gather together and tell each other about the past years in order to enter a better New Year together. They will eat the same banh chung. After that, we will visit relatives and neighbors. And our children will receive lucky money. On New Year's Eve, everyone can watch the colorful fireworks in the sky together. I love Tet, every year I look forward to Tet, to see my loved ones again

Since Tet - Vietnamese Lunar New Year - has been, for longer than anyone could remember, among the most important traditional festivals of our country, it's celebration tends to be relatively well-prepared and divers in families. I myself, more than reasonably, has a lot to do too with this day knocking on my very door. The first thing we do as the end of year is approaching, is to finish all our current works in the passing year, cause it gives us a feeling of completion, and that we're off to a fresh start the moment our New Year comes. For instant, I would clean up my room (which I rarely do) and finish all my school works (which I also rarely do). Besides that, a lot like in Western countries, where you ornament your home while longing for important days such as Noel or New Years Eve, Vietnamese people decorates ours. Normally I would help out by going to the Tet market - as you can guess, that market is only open at Tet, which is a silly thing in my opinion - and buy all the best decorations i can find. I'd also buy a lot of candies, cookies and jellies to eat during the festival and to give away, like when people buy Turkey for Thanks giving. Additionally, some traditional families can make Banh Chung (sticky rice cake) together at home and enjoy themselves while the cake is being cooked. Mine, well, however, of course, doesn't. I have to say, these preparations, along side with many many others, are those that has made Tet one of the most beautiful and enjoyable festival we have annually.
