SLEEPY TEENS

When school superintendent Russell Dever enters the local coffee shop at around 7:20 A.M., it is crowded with
students. “The line is out the door because our high school kids are getting coffee,” he said. And they are not standing in line
for the decaf – they need the caffeine to stay awake in class. Talk to American high school students and you hear the
complaints about how late they stay up, how little they sleep – and how early they must be in class.
These days, there is increasing concern in schools across the United States about students who are not completely
awake in morning classes. School officials in some states have even changed start times so teenagers can sleep later.
According to sleep expert Mary Carskadon, the fact that many teenagers work long hours outside of the school and have
computers and televisions in their bedrooms contributes to a serious lack of sleep. But, she said, the problem is also due to
biology. As the bodies of teenagers develop, their brains also change. These changes make teens more likely than adults to
have trouble sleeping at night.
Teenagers need at least eight to nine hours of sleep a night, but the average teen gets a lot less. Carskadon’s
study, completed in the fall of 2001 with researcher Amy Wolfson, showed that nearly 30 percent of students in the tenth

grade slept less than six hours on school nights. Less than 15 percent got more than eight hours of sleep each night. Eighth-
graders averaged eight hours of sleep a night, although that age group, she said, needs at least nine hours a night. Even

more remarkable are the results of a 1997-1998 school year study. In that study, 12 out of 24 U.S. high school students who
were part of an experiment at a sleep laboratory had brain wave patterns similar to those of someone with narcolepsy, a
serious condition that affects sleep. “What’s going in on is that at 8:30 in the morning these kids ... would normally be in
school sitting in a classroom, but ... their brain is still in the middle of the night,” said Carskadon.
Parent Dawn Dow says her son just cannot go to bed before 10 P.M. “Last year he was trying to put himself to bed
at 8:30 and was coming in 9:30 and 10 in tears saying, ‘I just can’t go to sleep.’ It is not a case of children wanting to be up
late ... It is a change in his chemistry.”
So would letting teenagers wake up later make a difference? Kyla Wahlstrom of the University of Minnesota in the
United States studies the effects of changing school starts time. She has looked at students in Edina and Minneapolis, two
cities in Minnesota, where public school officials have moved high school starting times past 8:30 A.M. In Minneapolis, the
middle school begins at 9:30 A.M. She said the later starting times have reduced students absences. They have also lowered
dropout rates by 8 percent over four years. In addition, she said, teachers report that students are not sleeping at their desks

during the first two hours of class anymore. She said 92 percent of parents from Edina reported that their teenagers are
easier to live with. The students reported that they were feeling less depressed and were getting better grades.
Big changes in school start times may not be possible in some areas. However, Wahlstrom said her research
shows that even small changes can contribute to a solution to this serious problem.

It’s written as a apologize to his sister. With Japanese, this film is understand as a fable about the respect. Film is been in historical background at the end of the seconds world war from Japan. Film tells a painful story but moving to brothers sentiment of two orphanages : Seita and Setsuko. They lost mother after a fierce bombing of American air force to Kobe city while their father combat for Japanese navy. So Seita and Setsuko must to struggle to exist between the famine and the resistance to merciless of surrounding people (that have their kinship). They have to live in a shelter-pit and often eat frogs and lizards. At the end, Setsuko have to die for hunger, pictures depict painfulness and the death of little girl can be considered as the most mournful film pictures in the cartoon Japan history. When everybody, who had seen this film are asked, most of them said they cried, and that have me.That brings me to the end of my presentation. Many thanks for your attention!

2. My favorite hobby is playing football in spare time. After completing my home work at home, I generally spend my lot of free time in playing football. I was so interested to play football from my childhood however started learning to play well when I was 5 years old. I was in one class when I was 5 years old. My father asked to my class teacher in the PTM about my hobby of football. And my teacher told him that there is a facility of playing sports daily in the school from class 1 so you can admit your child. Now, I really enjoy playing football and paripate in the inter-school competitions.

3. I work for Pentax cameras, in the export department. I don’t have a lot of free time, but I have one special hobby taking photographs, of course! I taking photographs of flowers, especially in spring. Sometimes, after work, I relax in a bar near my office with friends. My friend, Tung, s singing pop songs in the bar. This has a special name, Karaoke. I don’t sing. I’m too shy! I just watch him.

4, My dream home would be on the ocean, well not on the ocean but beside it with a white sandy beach. The house would be an A frame backed against a hill. The upper floor would be a half floor master bedroom with a kingsize water bed and ensuite with a hot tub and sauna. The front wall would be glass with a stairway coming up to the bedroom. On cloudy nights you could watch the floresents in the waves coming into the beach while you went to sleep. Other nights you could counting the stars in the western sky.
On the main floor would be the kitchen-dining room combination, with all the newest appliances and an island in the middle of the kitchen with the stove top and hanging pots and pans over it. The sink would be under one of the windows. Under the other window would be the nook for family meals. Between the kitchen windows, which look out to the field where the horses would be enjoying the warm weather are the cupboards. The dining room would have a six chair pine table set and hutch china cabnet. There will also be a three piece bathroom off the kitchen. The living room is in the front with the big front window. The fireplace is on the side wall with small long windows overlooking the driveway to the road a half mile away. The three piece sectional is perfectly positioned to watch the sunset into the western sea. The basement has the laundry room at the back with sewing machine for mending before folding and taking clothes upstairs. Half of the front of the basement is a guest bedroom with ensuite and small fridge and two element stove. The computer room is also at the front of the basement. Both have views of the beach and sea. Opposite the laundry room is my husband's workshop. I don't know what he has in there as it is his domain. In the garage at the side of the house is our wine colored 94 Toyota Crasada and my husband's hog. We often ride the bike along the beach on warm evenings to visit friends. giúp mình dịch nó vớ?

Và trong số tất cả những bộ phim tôi đã xem, “Mộ đom đóm” là một trong những phim hoạt hình mà tôi thích nhất. Trong tiếng Việt, nó được gọi là “Can ham đom” hoặc “Mơ đom”. Đó là một câu chuyện bi thảm về hai đứa trẻ trong chiến tranh. Phim do studio Ghibli sản xuất tại Nhật Bản, do Takahata Isao đạo diễn và viết kịch bản. Nó dựa trên một cuốn tiểu thuyết của Nosaka Akiyuki. Nó được viết như một lời xin lỗi đến em gái của anh ấy. Với người Nhật, bộ phim này được hiểu như một câu chuyện ngụ ngôn về sự tôn trọng. Phim lấy bối cảnh lịch sử vào cuối thế chiến thứ hai của Nhật Bản. Phim kể về câu chuyện đau thương nhưng cảm động về tình cảm anh em của hai cô nhi viện: Seita và Setsuko. Họ mồ côi mẹ sau trận ném bom ác liệt của không quân Mỹ xuống thành phố Kobe trong khi cha họ chiến đấu cho hải quân Nhật Bản. Trên tầng chính sẽ là sự kết hợp giữa nhà bếp và phòng ăn, với tất cả các thiết bị mới nhất và một hòn đảo ở giữa nhà bếp với bếp nấu và treo xoong nồi trên đó. Bồn rửa sẽ nằm dưới một trong các cửa sổ. Dưới khung cửa sổ kia sẽ là ngóc ngách cho bữa ăn gia đình. Giữa các cửa sổ nhà bếp, nhìn ra cánh đồng nơi những con ngựa sẽ được tận hưởng thời tiết ấm áp là tủ đựng thức ăn. Phòng ăn sẽ có một bộ bàn ăn bằng gỗ thông sáu ghế và một chiếc lều bằng sứ bằng hutch. Ngoài ra còn có một phòng tắm ba mảnh bên ngoài nhà bếp. Phòng khách ở phía trước với cửa sổ lớn phía trước.
