The word jeans comes from a kind of material that was made in Europe. The material, called jean, was named after sailors from Genoa in Italy, because they wore clothes made from it. In the 18th century jean cloth was made completely from cotton and workers at that time loved wearing it because the material was very strong and it did not wear out easily. In the 1960s, many university and college students wore jeans. Designers made different styles of jeans to match the 1960s' fashion: embroidered jeans, painted jeans and so on.
In the 1970s more and more people started. wearing jeans because they became cheaper. During World War I, many women had jobs and their clothes needed to be more practical. They began wearing shorter skirts and bared their legs. Soon they began wearing trousers. The lively, outrageous flapper style of the 1920s included lower waistline, long necklaces and short hair. Men's suit become looser and were worn with a long tie.
During the 1960s women wore miniskirts and Jeans and T-shirts become popular with both sexes. Nowadays, jeans are fashionable and familiar to almost everyone. Especially for the young generation, jeans are recommended because of their benefits in the economy. First of all, unlike normal pants which could be worn out by us doing strong activities, throughout time, etc; jeans are much more durable and could last for a long time. Moreover, jeans are popular and suitable for everyone due to their variety in styles, sizes and prices; therefore jeans could be cheap and affordable for all social classes. Jeans are also compatible with many kinds of clothes such as T-shirts, shirts, blouses. Last but not least, jeans have never been out of fashion since it was introduced which can save us a lot of time and money, not having to be slaving over fashion trends.
