Generally, Christmas is celebrated on December 25th all over the world. It is a celebration of the remembrance of the birth of Jesus Christ who is supposed to be the saviour and redeemer of the world.
ADVERTISEMENTS:
Christians believe that Jesus Christ was born in a manger at Bethlehem in Israel about two thousand years ago. That event is remembered on this day. Christians make Christmas cribs in resemblance of Bethlehem manger and adorn it with decorated Christmas trees, lighted lamps and stars.
A significant aspect of Christmas is the greetings and wishes which are sent to friends, relatives and well-wishers. Christmas cards have become so universal that today men of all religion and caste send them to their friends and relatives. No other festival can claim such a trend. For Vietnamese, Lunar New year is the most important festival of a year because it is the beginning of a year. If we have a good beginning throughout first three days of year, we will have much luck during that year. Therefore, the activity of welcoming Tet festival is celebrated carefully in order to avoid unfortunate mistakes. And according to each area of the country, Vietnamese have different ways. Although I am a Vietnamese, I don’t know how families in other parts of my country welcome Tet holiday. My family, an age –old Southern family, usually celebrates Tet as this following way. Tet holiday begins on twenty-ninth of December. We start on decorating our house and preparing food for tet holiday. My father and I are responsible for tidying up our house. Quickly, the house becomes splendid with a very beautiful apricot blossom full of sweet-smelling blooming flowers in the middle of living room. On the branches, we also put some lovely greeting cards which make the tree more beautiful. When we finish our duties, my mother and sister also finish cooking. The kitchen is now full of delicious dishes whose smell float into the air. We usually keep many kinds of food in our kitchen in New Year festival. At lunch, we prepare a big feast to donate the ancestors. At the New Year‘s Eve, our family usually gather together. We watch television or play some traditional games. Until the clock strikes twelve tones to signal the moment of a new year, we donate the ancestors again. Then, my sister and I say “happy new year” to my parents and get lucky money from them. Next, we have a big meal to welcome New Year. Although all of us say nothing about our senses at that time, I know every body is cheerful and hopes for a lucky year. In three Tet days, we are usually well-dress to visit our relatives, teachers. We bring offerings to sacrifice ancestral altars, congratulate the olds on advancing in years and say New Year’s greetings to the others. Although we all are quite tired in these days, we are really joyful. Thanks to Tet holiday, we become closer and closer. Tet festival is very significant for Vietnamese, and these are all of my Tet holiday. I hope every year we have three great Tet days so that we have an extremely smooth year.
2.A popular festival you know.
In Vietnam, there are many traditional as well as modern festival from foreign countries, but the festival I like best, is a very popular festival: Mid-Autumn festival. It starts every full moon in August in Vietnam.Everybody will eat mooncakes-a kind of cake indispensable in this festival. In the evening, children will go out for a lantern parade.Somebody go out for a walk or go out to buy some mooncakes from the market.Outside, the roads will be light up by the lights of the lantern parade.Looks it's very beautiful and shimmer all the time. It's so interesting! That's what I think, how about you?
3. Traffic prolems where you live, or in a town or a city you know well
The most common traffic problem in big cities in my country is traffic jam. The main cause of this traffic problem is the crease of the population in big cities. So the number of people using the roads has risen siveral times. The second reason, is that roads are narrow and bumpy. Besides, many young people their bikes dangerously. the are traffic accident everyday. I think the road users must obey the laws seriously. The government should widen and up grade the roads and fine heavily people who break the law.
My hometown has changed a lot since my childhood. There are less paddy fields. Many buildings have been built up. There are more cars and motorbikes today than bicycles in the past. People turn to work in new factories instead of doing the farming. Neighbors are busier with their work and spend less time chatting with each other. People become richer and dress more fashionable. We have new technologies that make our life easier. As I grow up, I see the nonstop changing of my world, I don't feel sad but hopeful for the coming future.

Tet holiday in Vietnam usually occurs at the end of January and lasts for 3 days. It is usually believed to be an occasion to welcome the new year with many blessings. On Tet holiday, people in my country will have family unions, prepare traditional food such as Vietnamese square cake, dried candied fruit, braised pork and decorate their house with parallel sentences and peach or apricot blossoms. Children always look forward to Tet holiday, for they can receive lucky money from adults. For adults, it is an occasion on which they are able to do the spring cleaning and make appetizing food to worship the ancestors.

Lim Festival
In 2014, I had chance to visit Lim Festival, a traditional festival in Vietnam where the famous Quan Ho folk songs are performed. This special festival was held on the thirteenth day of the first lunar month by local residents in Lim village, Bac Ninh province, Vietnam. Coming here on the festive days, I and thousands of visitors enjoyed the singing of traditional love duets (Quan Ho fork songs) performed by “lien anh” and “lien chi” (male and female Quan Ho singers) behind Lim pagoda, in Lim hill and on dragon boats on Lim rivers. Those singers wore traditional costumes and sang songs in pairs. There were strict rules for their performance in which the singers had to not only react quickly but also have a good understanding of traditional tunes as well as the historical and cultural features of the songs. Like other religious festivals, the Lim Festival went through all ritual stages, from the procession to the worshipping ceremony and other activities. I also watched a weaving competition among the village girls who wove and sang Quan Ho simultaneously. Other traditional games such as human chess-playing, cockfighting contest, rice-cooking contest, tug of war and wrestling were also held. Visiting this festival is a memorable experience to me.
Halloween is a holiday celebrated on October 31st. The most common colors of the day are orange and black. Halloween comes from the ancient Celtic festival Samhain.
The ancient Celts believed that on October 31st, now known as Halloween, the boundary between the living and the deceased is not clear, and the dead become dangerous for the living by causing problems such as sickness or damaged crops.
On Halloween, the ancient Celts would place a skeleton by their window to represent the dead. Believing that the head was the most powerful part of the body, containing the spirit and knowledge, the Celts used the "head" of the vegetable to decorate their houses. On this day people often wear strange clothes as characters in horrible novels or movies to frighten others. People usually like to dress as ghosts, skeletons, or witches. Now Halloween is an official holiday in almost all European countries.
To honor the first king of Vietnam, Vietnamese people hold a cultural festival called the Hung King Temple festival. It takes place in Nghia Linh Mountain, Phu Tho Province every year. The Hung Temple historical area includes three main temples: Ha Temple, Trung Temple and Thuong Temple in order from the bottom of the mountain going up. People will visit and enjoy most of the activities here. During the festival, people will take part in many folk games such as bamboo swings, “nem con”, rice cooking competitions, lion dance, human chess, water puppet performance,… Besides folk games, there are also cultural festival activities, such as taking the king's litter or offering incense. It is because of these activities and competitions that the festival atmosphere becomes more noisy and crowded. The festival attracts thousands of people across the country and overseas each year. This is an occasion for every Vietnamese to express the long-lasting traditional morality “When you drink water, remember the source” when joining the festival.
