Nghinh Ong Festival
Eight-hundred participants of the annual Nghinh Ong Festival marched through the streets of Phan Thiet City yesterday amid swarms of onlookers. Palanquins (elevated seats carried by two or four people), flowers and music flooded the streets for the cultural immersion festival that has brought together the Viet and Hoa (Chinese ethnic) people living together in the town to worship Quan Cong and wish for peace, good weather and prosperous harvests throughout south central Binh Thuan Province.
"The festival expresses clearly the cultural identity of the Hoa community in Phan Thiet, living together with other ethnic groups. The high amount of community involvement in the festival is what makes it original and entertaining," said Lam Quang Hien, director of the provincial Department of Culture and Information, and the festival's organising committee chief.
"Many people look forward to when Ong's palanquin and the delegation march past their street; they believe that good things will come to them," he adds.
Nghinh Ong Festival - one of five main ethnic festivals in Binh Thuan - brings calligraphy, gastronomy, exhibitions and Chinese chess to life in an impressive China Town form.
Fifteen dance troupes bearing colourful unicorn, lion and dragon costumes performed programmes to wow visitors. Included was the town's native Thanh Long troupe which presented their popular Truong Long Lion.
Classical opera (tuong) performances by HCM City based Tran Huu Trang Theatre also delighted audiences.
The festival, held on August 11-14, aims to promote tourism activities in the region, said Nguyen Van Thu, deputy chairman of the provincial People's Committee. Officials estimated the event attracted more than 40,000 visitors.

The film I like best is Boy Hood. It's a school life film with the acting of Karry,Roy and Jackson. It's about school life and basketball competition between two schools. The film is very gripping and hilarious but it has a sad ending. The acting of the character is natural and exellent. The music, which is really suitable for this film and interesting with a fun rhythm. The visuals are beautiful with a lot of beautiful sceneries.Critics say that it is one of the best film with gripping and hilarious scenes. It also includes a meaningful message for the young. And,I think that is one of the best films I have ever-seen.It's a must-see film for everybody.

I think traffic in my city is bad and not strictly because there are many traffic problems.First, there are too many vehicles on the road. Also,m any cattle and dogs run along or across the road.Children play on it and some villagers sell and buy things, too.Second, many roads are narrow and bumpy. They are easily flooded when it rain so heavily. The roads roads become wet and slippery after the rain. The last, many people don't obey the traffic rules. They usually drive and ride very dangerously,so there are many traffic accidents everyday. In order to reduce these problems,we must strictly obey all the traffic rules

My mother had a business trip to Da Nang last weekend, and I had a chance to visit this beautiful city with her. She worked for one morning, and the rest of the time she took me outside to visit some famous places. The first spot was the Hoi An ancient town, which was a completely different world from the busy roads out there. I took many pictures with the lanterns, the old corners, and enjoyed some of the very delicious food. In the evening, we took a short trip to Dragon Bridge - a symbol of Da Nang City. Since it was Saturday night, we had chance to witness the Dragon head blowing fire and water. It was such a wonderful view, and I was really impressed by that. Next we went around the city to enjoy the nightlife here, and Da Nang was very different from Ho Chi Minh City. Next morning, we woke up pretty early to go to My Khe beach - which is also known as one of the six most beautiful beaches of the world. The sand was white, the water was crystal clear, and the ranges of coconut made the atmosphere seemed so poe. In the afternoon, we visited the Asian Park - Sun World Da Nang Wonder so I could play some interesting games. In the evening, we went to two other famous bridges - the Han River and the Love bridges. Both of them were so beautiful, and it was a pity that we did not have more time to actually enjoy the view. I left Da Nang in regret that night, and I had to admit that Da Nang was such a worthy city to live.

Van Mieu (The Temple of Literature) was constructed in 1070 during Ly Thanh Tong's dynasty. Its original purpose was to honor Confucius. In 1076, the first university of Vietnam called Quoc Tu Giam (The Imperial Academy), was established within this temple by Emperor Ly Nhan Tong. That's the reason why the complex has the name of Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam up to now.Initially, Quoc Tu Giam was the school for princes and children of royal families and then expanded in the following year to admit top students from around the country.
Nowadays, Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam is one of the most famous tourist destinations for both Vietnamese people and foreigners. It's also a place to celebrate doctorates and high ranking scholars of Vietnam. One special thing about this place is that there are 82 Doctors' stone tablets. They are tombstones with names and origins of 1304 doctors placed on the backs of stone tortoises. If you come here at the beginning of the year or in May, when many important examinations take place, you will catch sights of numerous families and students who come and pray for luck.
Van Mieu – Quoc Tu Giam opens daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and the entrance fee for each adult is 30,000 VND.
