PLASTIC BAGS FROM GETTING EATEN BY TURTLES
You can save…584STRAWS WHEN YOU SWITCH TO REUSABLES
Skip the straw. Do without or if you like having something to sip with, use a glass, bamboo, hay, metal or other type of reusable straw. Ask for no straw when ordering drinks and carry a collapsible one like one from Final Straw! Recycle everything! 100,000 and we do mean everything you cannot reuse, compost, or donate. Try Terracycle! You can save…9000POUNDS OF PLASTIC WASTE FROM GOING INTO THE LANDFILLS EACH YEAR
You can save…25000FOOD MILES BY SHOPPING LOCALLY
Choose seasonal and local. Avoid prepackaged food by getting food from your local CSA and checking out farmers markets near you.
1. Go Digital
The more you do online, the less you need paper. Think about if you can send emails instead of letters or if you need to print files or if you can save them on your computer (or SharePoint if you’re based in a RLO office)
2. Switch lights off
One of the simplest ways to reduce energy consumption is to switch lights off when you leave a room. If it’s sunny outside open up the blinds and make the most of natural light instead.
3. Reuse before recycle
Before you get gung-ho about recycling think about can you re-use items first? Can you print on both sides of paper or can you re-use as scrap paper for note taking or shopping lists?
4. Get sharing
Does everyone in the office or service need their own stapler, hole punch, scissors, etc? Of course not! Save money and unnecessary manufacture by using less in the first place. Rather than buying new stationery, see if you can get refills instead.
5. Switch computers off
Both in services and offices make sure computers are switched off when you’re not using them rather than just leaving them on standby – you’d be amazed how much energy this saves!
6. Recycle
Make sure you recycle what you can. RLO offices have green bins to recycle paper and most councils will collect recycled materials such as plastic and cardboard from residential services so make sure you sort out waste before throwing in the bin.
7. Cut unnecessary travel
Consider if you can use the RLO Skype or teleconference facilities instead of travelling in the first place. Not only is this good for the environment but also saves you time and money too!
8. Save water
Only use as much water as you need, saving both water and the energy needed to heat it when it comes to cups of tea and baths etc. Plus did you know you can get dual-flush toilets or water saving devices for toilet cisterns which reduce water per flush.
9. Green the commute
Can you car share, use public transport, walk or ride a bike instead of jumping in the car? This often provides a great chance to integrate with the community or get to know your colleagues better too!
10. Bring your own lunch
Bringing lunches to work in reusable containers is probably the greenest (and healthiest) way to eat at work. Buying lunches everyday almost inevitably ends up with a miniature mountain of packaging waste and is way more expensive than making your own too!

Taking steps to conserve and reuse is easier than you might think. You can do your part just by changing your daily habits. To help save the environment, try decreasing energy and water consumption, changing your eating and transportation habits to conserve natural resources, and adapting your home and yard to be more environmentally friendly. Once you've made your own lifestyle more environmentally conscious, you can also engage in activism to help educate others on doing the same.
Switch off anything that uses electricity when not in use. If you're not using it, turn it off. This goes for lights, televisions, computers, printers, and so on.
- Put timers on lamps and use them to turn off lamps at the same time each day. Timers like these can be found in hardware stores and they can be plugged into outlets, then control the power to your lamp.
- You can also find heaters and fans that have timers on them. So if it's cold or hot during the night it will switch off for you. Most of the timers go for an hour and then automatically switch off.

Unplug devices when possible. Leaving devices plugged in, such as laptop chargers or toasters, can use "phantom" energy. Even when an appliance is turned off, it may still use power because the applications on the electronics will constantly use electricity.[1] It is best to unplug anything that you do not anticipate using in the next 36 hours (or more).
- Use a power strip to turn lots of things off with the flip of a single switch. You can plug all your devices in one area—say, your computer—into a power strip. When you're done, simply turn the power strip off with the switch.
- Measure the energy your devices use or look up typical energy use. To measure usage yourself, use a Kill-a-Watt. You plug an appliance in through the Kill-A-Watt, and it measures the power use. This tool can also tell you whether a particular appliance or device draws power when it is turned off.

Trade in your dryer for a good old-fashioned clothesline. Air drying leaves your clothes smelling fresh and is environmentally friendly. Tumble dryers are among the biggest energy users in most households, after the refrigerator and air conditioner. If you do use a dryer, make sure to keep the vent clear, for safety as well as efficiency.
- Also, when using a washing machine, make sure you have a full load of dirty clothes. Do not just put a couple of dirty clothes into the washing machine as that wastes water. Instead make sure you have a full load of dirty clothing to conserve the water and electricity.
- If you want, you can also hand wash clothes in a sink or buy a energy efficiency washing machine that doesn't use a lot of waterRun your air conditioner sparingly or not at all. Air conditioners use a great deal of electricity. Use natural ventilation or a fan to keep cool, as much as possible.
- If you do use an air conditioner, set it to a slightly lower temperature than outside. Remember that setting the temperature lower uses more electricity, and it won't cool things off any faster.Close the heating and air conditioning vents in your home. If you are not using certain rooms in your house, close the vents in these rooms, and close the doors. Doing this consistently will reduce the amount of energy squandered by heating or cooling seldom occupied spaces.Don't use electronic exercise machines. Instead of using exercise equipment, use a real bicycle (or a unicycle), or walk to get to nearby destinations or for pleasure. Calisthenics, push-ups, and other bodyweight exercises work, as well. Use a warm blanket or sweater in winter. Bundle yourself up and lower your thermostat by a few degrees. Aim to set your thermostat at 68°F (20 °C) in the winter, perhaps even lower at night. Every degree above this will generate about 6-8% additional energy output.

Every company should invest in our environment. We live in a time when the environment is in danger, so it is important to protect it. We need a healthy environment in order to survive, so we must protect it. We need to protect the environment now to help prevent health problems, to maintain the ecosystem, and to preserve the Earth for our children.
Pollution from factories and cars can cause damage to the environment. It makes the air dirty. Breathing this dirty air causes health problems, particularly for children and the elderly. Pollution not only increases spending on health care, but also decreases working ability. We need to control the amounts of pollution we produce in order to prevent health problems.
We also need to pay attention to the ecosystem. Plant life, animal life, and people all depend on each other. An unhealthy environment disturbs this ecosystem. For example, changes in the environments might cause a certain kind of plant to die. If that plant is food for a certain kind of animal, the animal will die too. If people use that animal as food source, there could be big problem. To avoid the big problems, factories should pollute as little as possible and use natural resources rationally.
If we do not protect our environment it will continue to get worse and our children will suffer the consequences. The air and water will be dirtier, natural resources will become scarcer, and more plants and animals will die. Our children won’t have as much natural beauty to admire. Even worse, their well-being will be threatened.
Without clean air to breathe, a healthy ecosystem, and a future for our children, the human race will not survive. That is why protecting our environment is important. If we have a healthy environment not only the company is going to make a profit but also workers, customers and community.
