I enjoy the convenience and vibrancy of city life. The availability of various amenities, such as restaurants, shopping centers, and entertainment options, makes everyday life exciting and diverse. Public transportation makes commuting easy, and there's always something happening—whether it's cultural events, festivals, or new experiences to try. However, the fast-paced environment can be overwhelming at times. The noise, pollution, and crowds can be exhausting, and it can feel hard to find peace and quiet. Despite these challenges, the opportunities and energy of city life make it a place I appreciate.

  • 1 Unless you pay the parking fee, you cannot park here.

  • 2 Even though we do not talk much, I still get along with my neighbors.

  • 1 They asked me what we should bring to the wood carving demonstration.

  • 2 The harder it becomes to find jobs, the more people leave the country.

topic 1:Write a paragraph (100 - 120 words) about how people in your neighbourhood observe their traditions and customs.

In my neighborhood, people take great pride in observing their traditions and customs, especially during major festivals. For instance, during the Mid-Autumn Festival, families come together to make and share mooncakes, symbolizing unity and prosperity. Children carry colorful lanterns while walking around the streets, creating a vibrant, joyful atmosphere. Similarly, during Lunar New Year, the neighborhood is decorated with red lanterns and banners, as families clean their homes to welcome good luck and fortune. Local markets are filled with traditional foods, and people visit relatives, exchanging gifts and well-wishes. These customs help strengthen the sense of community, bringing people closer and allowing younger generations to connect with their cultural heritage

1It has been a few years since I moved to this neighbourhood.

While I was waiting for my food, I noticed a nice painting on the wall.

1 This is the first time I have made mooncakes for the Mid-Autumn Festival.

I had a desire to explore the hidden gems of the city that most tourists miss.

1A typical traditional Vietnamese dish that embodies the essence of Vietnamese cuisine is Pho. Pho is a fragrant, aromatic soup consisting of a rich broth, rice noodles, herbs, and meat—typically beef (pho bo) or chicken (pho ga)

2Imagine you're going on a road trip to a remote town you've never visited. You arrive at your destination and decide to stop at a small, family-run restaurant. You’re greeted warmly, and the owner personally recommends the house specialty, a homemade dish with local ingredients you’ve never tried before. You decide to take a chance and order it.

The food arrives, and it’s not just a meal—it’s an experience. The flavors blend perfectly, and the freshness of the ingredients is evident in every bite. The owner shares stories about the origins of the dish, explaining how it’s been passed down through generations. You feel a deep sense of connection to the place and its people, and the meal becomes a cherished memory.

3Past:

In the past, travel was often a lengthy, expensive, and sometimes perilous undertaking. People typically traveled by horse-drawn carriages, boats, or early trains, which meant that journeys could take weeks, months, or even longer. International travel was mainly reserved for the wealthy or those on significant business or religious missions. The concept of "getting away" was rare, and most people remained in their local communities for their entire lives.

Present:

Today, travel has become much more accessible due to air travel, high-speed trains, and modern cars. Budget airlines and the rise of online booking platforms have made travel affordable for many people, allowing for spontaneous trips across countries or continents.

In the past, students typically attended school from early morning until mid-afternoon. The curriculum included a range of subjects such as reading, writing, arithmetic, and history, with a focus on traditional teaching methods like lectures and textbooks. During leisure time, students often engaged in simple yet enjoyable activities such as playing tag, drawing with chalk on the sidewalk, or exploring nature in nearby parks. Summer holidays were a cherished time, usually lasting around two to three months, providing ample opportunities for family vacations, trips to the beach, or attending summer camps. To commute to school, some students walked or rode bicycles, while others might have taken horse-drawn carriages or early forms of public transportation like trams or trolleys, depending on the time period and location.
