Regular Verbs vs. Irregular Verbs
1. Regular Verbs
Regular verbs create the past simple by adding -ed to the base form.
For example:
BASE FORM | PAST SIMPLE |
arrive | arrived |
call | called |
wait | waited |
2. Irregular Verbs
Irregular verbs are verbs in which the past simple are NOT formed by adding the usual -ed ending.
For example:
BASE FORM | PAST SIMPLE |
sing | sang |
feel | felt |
go | went |
Classify the verbs into regular and irregular.

Past-Tense Regular Verb Pronunciation
Group A: /t/
If the infinitive verb has a voiceless sound at the end of it, such as /p/, /k/, /s/, /ch/, /sh/, /f/, /x/, or /h/, you pronounce the "-ed" ending as a "T".
Example:
asked | cooked | dropped |
Group B: /ɪd/
If the last sound in the infinitive verb is a /t/ or /d/, pronounce the "-ed" ending as "ID".
Example:
collected | divided | ended |
Group C: /d/
If verbs that do not belong to the two groups above, then pronounce the "-ed" ending as "D".
Example:
