I love swimming. Ever since I was a kid I’ve wanted to go to the pool to learn to swim. Initially, I was self-taught with my brother’s guidance. My brother would stand in the water and act as a grip point for me. I put my hand on him and put all my force into my foot to kick. This move is quite easy. Then he taught me to float in the water. It took me a long time to learn this skill. I need to keep my head above the water and put strength into my legs. Because my brother was quite busy after that, so he couldn’t teach me how to swim. I went to the professional swimming center. Thanks to the methodical instruction of the teacher and my own efforts, I have made rapid progress. The first type of swimming that I learned was breaststroke. This swimming style is quite easy. I have been learning to swim for 5 years. Now I can swim all types of swimming. I love swimming and I hope I can take the swimming competitions.

Gustave Eiffel's design was chosen from among 107 that were submitted to the World's Fair design competition. However, many Parisians, especially artists, did not like his design and protested the tower's construction. They thought it would be an eyesore, but once it was built, most Parisians soon loved the tower.
The tower is made of iron and weights over 10,000 tons. It is 324 metres tall, including antenna at its top, and has a staircase with 1,665 steps. There are also elevators to take visitors to the top platform where there is a panoramic view of Paris. The original elevators, now computerised, are still in use. Over 60 tons of paint are applied to the tower every seven years to keep it from rusting.
The Eiffel Tower has become a symbol of Paris. It is the most recognised monument in Europe, and many people think it is an architectural masterpiece. Over 250 million people have visited it since May of 1889.
