Some parents believe that watching TV is bad for their children. So, they try to limit their children's TV viewing. However, other parents think there is nothing bad about watching TV shows. I personally think that watching TV is of great benefit to children unless they spend a lot of their precious time in front of TV every day. We recommend that children spend less than a few hours a day watching TV programs and those programs are right for them. For the following reasons that I will cover below, I believe television plays an essential role in a child's development.
First of all, television helps a child expand the range of his interests. Children can find new things and make many interesting discoveries for themselves. In addition to this practical benefit, television also improves children's vocabulary and memory and helps children gain more knowledge. I think it's essential for a child's development. Of course, one might say that there are many different sources of information such as books and teachers. But, I think, in our modern world, children must learn faster and use all modern technology to be successful. Second, watch awareness programs that help children understand more about the wildlife, our environment, and the importance of conserving forests and the wildlife that live there.
Scientists say that a child should not watch TV for more than 40 minutes continuously and no more than 2-3 hours per day. For example, my mom always made us rest after watching TV for more than half an hour and let our eyes rest for a few minutes before turning the TV back on. She also doesn't let us watch TV all day. I think that's the best solution.
In short, I believe that television gives children and all people an opportunity to learn things that cannot be learned from books. In particular, television and movies allow people to feel real and see what they most likely won't be able to see in their lives. Personally, when I was a kid, I loved watching wildlife awareness programs. Unfortunately, my family only has one TV, but these programs are the only programs we all want to see. So we gathered in the living room and watched them in complete silence and I always remember those moments with a smile on my face.
